Od jakiegoś czasu próbuję odnaleźć jeden odcinek Entreprise, w którym załoga symuluje wyciek plazmy/chłodziwa (?) aż z silników wydobywa się chmura niebieskiego dymu co symuluje eksplozję w niedługim okresie. Prawdopodobnie NX-01 chce zmylić kogoś/coś. Następnie silniki zostają naprawione i Enterprise ucieka.
Pamięta ktoś ten odcinek?

Też się zdziwiłem. Nie liczę tego odcinka do najwybitniejszych, a jego łagodnie antytranshumanistyczne przesłanie jawi mi się powtarzaniem dość oklepanego trekowego motywu (i w dodatku jednym z tych elementów ideologii ST, do których mi najdalej), ale uważam, że jest to całkiem przyzwoity, średni epizod zawierający interesujące sceny/wątki. Takie 3/4 w wiadomej skali.

Trudno to skomentować tak, żeby nie powtórzy tego, co się już kiedyś pisało, ale z rankingiem, w którym TAS jest przed VOYem, "Treki" Abramsa przed GEN i INS, a FC przed TMP, musi być coś nie tak.

Ja się jednak podejmę bronić tego rankingu choć też niekoniecznie się z nim zgadzam...

TAS przed VOY... Jeśli mierzyć jakość serii po ilości udanych odcinków, to - zgoda - TAS nie ma szans, ale jeśli brać pod uwagę czynnik prekursorstwa, to TAS - mimo zwykle nędznych fabuł - ma czym zabłysnąć. VOY - acz nie jego wina, że powstawał w sumie jako piąty Trek z kolei, trzeci w tej samej epoce - był cokolwiek wymęczony. TAS był świeży, widać po nim, że Trek (i w ogóle świat seriali SF) dopiero się wówczas rodził, widać oryginalność. Tym bardziej, że pokazywał pewne rzeczy pierwszy, animacja pozwalała mu na to, czego nie umożliwiały wówczas efekty specjalne, przynajmniej nie przy telewizyjnym budżecie. Pamiętajmy, powstał wcześniej niż S:1999, "Alien" i pierwsza odsłona SW, to one pewne elementy czerpały z niego. Ponadto: TAS był jeszcze dzieckiem epoki, w której ludzkość miała nadzieję ruszyć niedługo między gwiazdy. I ten autentyzm, tę pasję, w nim widać. To - mimo wszelkich swoich niedoróbek i umowności - nie jest skonwencjonalizowana, nie traktująca serio samej siebie, obecna SF. To jest manifest.
(Przypuszczam, że gdyby w VOY więcej tej żarliwości i autentyzmu zostało byłby kolejnym Trekowym arcydziełem.)

Treki Abramsa i GEN z INS... Powiedzmy sobie szczerze... GEN - mimo, że parę b. klimatycznych scen ma, i z jedną sensowną mowę Picarda - jest jednym z najgłupszych filmów ST, głupszym niż filmy JJa, a nakręconym bardziej nieudolnie, one się efekciarstwem (i pewną techniczną sprawnością) bronią. Mogę pojąć, że trafił na listę za nimi... INS? Lubię ten film, tak jak i Ty, i z filmów z Picardem cenię najwyżej, ale przypuszczam, że mści się pewne skonwencjonalizowanie amerykańskich produkcji (tam nawet, jak z niejakim zdziwieniem odkryłem swego czasu, jest ściśle określone czym ma się różnić poranna opera mydlana od wieczornej). Otóż, jak wiemy, dziewiąty Trek przypomina raczej nie do końca przemyślany odcinek TNG, niż produkcję filmową. I to - z tego co obserwuję - wystarcza tamtejszej krytyce dla wystawiania mu niskich not. Co z tego, że niezgorszy, gdy niedostatecznie filmowy. (Nie zgadam się z takim postawieniem tematu, uważam, że podejście tego typu może być zabójcze dla oryginalności, i poniekąd za obecną plagę wiecznych powtórek pewnie odpowiada, ale rozumiem, że przy tak ustawionych kryteriach wyjdzie taka nota.) No i realizacyjnie "jedenastka" z "dwunastką" są jednak efektowniejsze. (W INS było sporo tych planetarnych bieda-scen, na które patrzeć trudno*.) Poza tym prawdą jest, że Piller b. się starał, ale naciski wytwórni w dużej mierze jego wysiłki storpedowały, przez co warstwa przesłaniowa ST IX niekoniecznie kupy się trzyma (bardziej został tam pozór mądrości, niż mądrość sama). Morały filmów Abramsa - acz zakopane pod tonami bezmyślnej akcji, i dalece mniej wyrafinowane - przetrwały jednak w całości, pozwalając tym filmiskom wpisać się, od niechcenia, w jakieś współczesne debaty (czyli zrobić coś b. w stylu TOS).

* Choćby już ze względu na kostiumy:


FC i TMP? Tu mamy podobny problem. TMP - tak w zasadzie sam autor zestawienia przyznał, że to najlepszy/jeden z najlepszych kinowych Treków, ale znów odzywa się czynnik cenienia konwencjalizacji - co z tego, że wybitny, jeśli niedostatecznie przypomina TOS, tak brzmi argument-młot na TMP (jasne, dla mnie też jest to skrajnie bzdurny argument, ale widać nie dla Amerykanów). Do tego dochodzi kolejny modny w USA element - czynnik społeczny, konkretnie - świadomość istnienia w tamtejszym fandomie elektoratu negatywnego tego filmu. Po co tę grupę irytować pchając TMP na podium, jak można pochwalić półgębkiem. IMHO zestawiający i tak ma jaja, że przy takim podejściu umieścił TMP tak wysoko. FC? Skoro wiemy, że fanów TNG jest sporo (poza tym fandom DS9 i VOY też woli XXIV wiek), to - czynnik społeczny raz jeszcze - wypadnie dać na podium coś z filmów z Łysym, by i oni się cieszyli. A, jako że skreśliliśmy - z przyczyn jw. - INS, pozostaje na placu boju tylko ST VIII, i go tam ładujemy. (Przy czym przyznać trzeba, że jeśli zaletą ma być konwencjonalna "kinowość", a jednym z czołowych atutów, strona wizualna, to FC wypada pod tym względem całkiem nieźle, mimo całej swej durnoty. Choć ja bym go - tak jak "jedenastkę" i Beyond - przyciął do pierwszych -nastu minut.)

(Zasadniczo mam wrażenie, że to był b. mocny zestaw, tak czy siak - mimo wszelkich paralogizmów "All Good Things...". No, może faktycznie "Unification" trochę odstaje in minus, mimo obecności Spocka - pozostając nadal solidnym odcinkiem. Ale tylko może... Będę sobie musiał ten epizod powtórzyć chyba...)

ps. W drugiej rundzie - zdziwicie się - zagłosowałem na "In the Pale Moonlight". (Wahałem się jeszcze nad "The Visitor", bo świetny klimat emocjonalny, ale zniechęciła mnie trochę naciągana warstwa naukowa. I nad "Sins of the Father". Tym razem nie była to tak oczywista decyzja, jak poprzednio.)

(Cóż, mój gust najwidoczniej pokrywa się z ogólnym... Z jednym istotnym wyjątkiem... Nigdy nie rozumiałem kultu otaczającego "The Trouble with Tribbles". I nadal nie rozumiem.)

ps. Z trzecią rundą mam kłopot, bo wybitne odcinki w tym zestawie są b. liczne. Albo wstrzymam się od głosu, albo też - korzystając z tego, że mam zmienne IP - zagłosuję (nie do końca uczciwie) ileś razy. Mam, bowiem, wrażenie, że na jaki epizod głosu tym razem nie oddam, skrzywdzę kilka równie wybitnych (co najmniej dotyczy to grupy "Far Beyond the Stars", "The Inner Light", "Living Witness", "Scorpion"*, "Tapestry" i - może trochę słabszy, ale wciąż lepszy niż wiele odcinków z poprzednich zestawień - "Darmok"; "Blink of An Eye" też jest niezły).

* Tak, przekonałeś mnie do niego, Korrd .

EDIT:
Podejrzałem wyniki i zagłosowałem na "Living Witness". Poniekąd z przekory, bo dostał najmniej głosów, a - IMHO - należy do najlepszych w tym (i tak b. mocnym) zestawieniu.

(Jak mówiłem: mam wrażenie, że "Living Witness" jest tu wielkim pokrzywdzonym. Poza tym dziwi mnie, że "Chain of Command" nie tylko trafił do zestawienia, ale jeszcze zdobył tak wiele głosów, wyprzedzając "Tapestry" i słynnego "Scorpiona". To, że "Darmok" - zgoda, bardzo dobry - zdobył aż drugie miejsce - również.)

ps. W czwartej rundzie problemu nie miałem - "TBoBW" i wszystko jasne. Przy czym - co zabawne - był to pierwszy epizod TNG, na który oddałem w tym cyklu ankiet głos. (Tak, sam jestem zdziwiony, ale w dużym stopniu to kwestia tego, jak owe odcinki pogrupowano*.)

* Np. gdyby w pierwszej części głosowania zabrakło "The Doomsday Machine" nie wiem czy nie przedłożyłbym "In a Mirror, Darkly" nad "Yesterday's Enterprise".
